Food Security and Smart Monitoring workshop organized by the Taiwan ICDF in Taipei, Taiwan

Introduction

Promoting effective collaboration: Leveraging Technology for Sustainable Agriculture & Resilient Food Systems
In the face of intensifying global climate change, rising geopolitical jeopardies, and increasingly stringent food safety standards, the resilience and transparency of the food supply chain have become critical issues for national and corporate survival. It’s against this backdrop, that De-Nexus center in actualization of its core goals in Agriculture and climate resilience programmes is participating at the “Food Security and Smart Monitoring” workshop organized by the Taiwan ICDF in Taipei, Taiwan from 24 June to 3rd July .
The workshop is with the objective to integrate smart monitoring technologies (such as AIoT, satellite, and remote sensing) into food systems for establishment of a comprehensive food security early warning and management system from the farm to the table.
The programme therefore, explores data science for accurate yield forecasting, real-time pest monitoring, quality monitoring and creating highly efficient digital traceability system. Through practical case studies and scenario simulations the programme enables participants to learn and identify potential food crises, enhance response capabilities to supply chain disruptions ensure food quality and consumer confidence.
At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to proficiently apply smart monitoring systems and traceability, trade shocks, yield forecasting, food safety crisis, supply chain management, policy and strategy implementation using digital tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), IoT, remote sensing and satellite models.
Among the participating countries are Nigeria,Kenya, Namibia Indonesia, Philippines, Paraguay, St Christopher and Nevis, Tuvalu, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia,
The targeted benefactors of the workshop are the smallholder farmers.
